Placing the purchase with your supplier leaves the on-hand count unchanged. Receiving adds the actual delivered quantity to the linked stock and closes the request as Received.
Saving a linked part as a work-order material deducts it from that part's source location. The count changes at material save, without waiting for the work order to be completed.
North's receipt and repair use leave 7 kits on hand. South stays at 8 because neither action uses its stock.
