Creating Courses with Make
Build lessons with text, media, and quizzes, then publish.
What Is LearnConsole?
LearnConsole is WashConsole's built-in learning system. It has three areas: Make (build courses), Learn (take courses), and Manage (assign and track). Course authoring happens in Make, which is web only — managers and learners can use Learn on both web and iOS, but you create content in a browser.
Creating a Course
- Open Learn and switch to the Make tab.
- Click New Course and give it a title and short description.
- Add Lessons. Each lesson is built from blocks you can mix:
- Formatted text
- Image
- Video (uploaded) or embedded YouTube
- AI diagram — a generated illustration
Embedding YouTube Videos
You can drop a YouTube video straight into a lesson with the embedded YouTube block — just paste the video's link. A few things to know so it actually plays for your team:
- Your channel can stay private or low-profile — that doesn't matter. What counts is the individual video's privacy setting, because Learn embeds YouTube with a normal public player (there's no YouTube sign-in).
- Set each training video to Unlisted (recommended) or Public. Unlisted keeps the video out of YouTube search and off your channel page, but it still embeds and plays in the course — ideal for training material you don't want publicly listed.
- Private videos will not play. The lesson shows "Video unavailable," because Learn can't sign in as the specific accounts a private video is shared with.
- Make sure Allow embedding is checked on the video (YouTube Studio → the video → Edit → Show more / Advanced). If it's turned off, even a Public video won't play in Learn.
If a video block shows "Video unavailable," the video is almost always set to Private or has embedding turned off.
Adding a Quiz
A course can include an optional Quiz to confirm understanding. Question types are:
- Single-choice — one correct answer
- Multi-select — several correct answers
- True / false
Set a passing score and a max attempts limit so learners know what's required.
Draft, Published, Archived
Every course has a status:
- Draft — a work in progress; not visible to learners.
- Published — live; can be assigned, taken, and opened read-only in the Library.
- Archived — retired but kept for the record.
A course stays a draft until you click Publish.
Preview Before You Publish
Click Preview in the top bar to see the course exactly as your team will — the same step-by-step player they use to take it, running on your draft. Walk through the lessons and the knowledge test just like a learner; nothing is recorded. Click the back arrow to return to editing.
Categories
Each course has a Category (set in Edit course details) used to group and colour-code it. Pick an existing one, or click + New category to add your own without leaving the dialog. Categories are also managed under Settings → Course categories.
Courses From SOPs
You don't have to rebuild everything by hand. Every approved SOP automatically becomes a course, and it re-trains your team when the SOP changes. Your account also ships with WashConsole 101, a built-in product-tour course.
Tip
Keep lessons short and focused — one idea per lesson — then use the quiz to confirm the key points stuck.
